The enchanting English summer has arrived, and with it comes the unveiling of the newly transformed garden courtyard at The Orator. Tucked away in the heart of Cambridge, this inviting outdoor space is destined to become the go-to destination for locals, tourists, and students seeking a delightful meal, freshly crafted cocktails, or a glass of bubbly in the sun, all while immersing themselves in the rich history and heritage of the Cambridge Union.

Whether you’re in search of a productive “working” lunch, after-work drinks, or a satisfying meal after a day of exploring the captivating city of Cambridge, The Orator’s garden offers the perfect setting to wine and dine under the summer sky.

As of June 2023, the garden is officially open for the summer season, inviting visitors to indulge in the vibrant summer menu and an extensive selection of refreshing beverages in the stunningly ornate garden space. From 11 am daily, you’re welcome to find a seat amidst the greenery, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis for over 150 people. It’s a true oasis nestled in the heart of the city, surrounded by the historic ambiance of one of Cambridge’s most esteemed venues.

“We are absolutely thrilled to witness the transformation of our garden into a unique and serenely beautiful outdoor space right in the heart of the city,” shares Joe Burman, General Manager at The Orator.

The Orator is an integral part of The Cambridge Union, the oldest debating society in the world. Once exclusively for student members, it opened its doors to the general public in 2019. Throughout the years, The Union has hosted an array of influential figures, including Robert DeNiro, Ronald Reagan, and Nancy Pelosi, and now you have the opportunity to be a part of its illustrious legacy too.
